We don’t often pay homage to players from other teams, but with the passing of the Dallas Cowboys’ legendary quarterback Don Meredith this past Sunday, we thought this was fitting. In the current issue of Sports Illustrated, there is a two-page photo spread of Meredith throwing over the pass rush of Green Bay Hall of Famer Henry Jordan (#74). In six tries during his career (1960-68), Meredith was never able to defeat the Packers, including the 1966 & 1967 title games. The latter, of course, was the infamous “Ice Bowl” which wrapped up the last championship of Vince Lombardi’s tenure in Titletown.The current issue of Sports Illustrated also features an article on former Packers’ legend Brett Favre and the sorry downturn of his career.
