Let’s Go Back to 1962

The weekend sometimes gives us extra time to do a lengthy, quality posting here at Packerville, U.S.A., and today is no exception. We are heading back to 1962 now to view the Green Bay-related sections of a publication called Petersen’s Pro Football 1962, which was their “7th annual edition.”

Here’s the full schedule for the 1962 N.F.L. season.

The “experts” at Petersen’s correctly picked Green Bay to be champions of the league after all was said and done in 1962. Some have said that the Packers team from that year was the best ever.

Defensive backfield stars Jesse Whittenton (#47) and Willie Wood (#24) successfully defend a pass attempt during a 1961 game.

Here’s the preview section for what could be expected from the 1962 Green Bay team.

There was also a complete statistical rundown of the 1961 Packers.

After the rest of the previews for the N.F.L. and A.F.L. teams, there was a four-page section on “Curly Lambeau’s Most Memorable Moments.” There are a lot of famous names in Packers history here — most of whom are unknown to today’s generation of fans.

Lastly, there is an article on the soon-to-be opened Pro Football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. What is interesting to see are the results of the voting for the initial class to be inducted.
