John Hadl Dies at 82

Those of us above a certain (older) age remember the John Hadl trade of 1974 and how it hamstrung the Packers for several years afterwards. You’ll also note that he wore both #12 (when he was traded to Green Bay), and then #21 in 1975. The Packers traded him (along with CB Ken Ellis) to the Houston Oilers (now the Tennessee Titans) for QB Lynn Dickey (who also then wore #12). Got that straight? There will be a quiz tomorrow.

The reason for this post is that John Hadl died on Wednesday, November 30th at the age of 82. Read his biography from Packers’ historian Cliff Christl HERE.

Playing his former team in 1975, the Packers lost 22-5.
