• The teams first met in the 1973 season opener, a 23-7 Green Bay victory in Milwaukee. Since then, the Jets have won nine of 13.
• The Packers and Jets combined to win the first three Super Bowls in NFL history, with Green Bay winning the first two and the Jets winning Super Bowl III.
• The only shutout in the series occurred on Oct. 31, 2010, as the Packers won, 9-0, their first road shutout since 1991.
• The Jets own the longest winning streak in the series, winning five consecutive games from 1979-91.
PACKERS KEY PLAYERS TO WATCH
QB Jordan Love must bounce back after facing heavy pressure and hits in Week 1. RB MarShawn Lloyd is the key piece in the backfield looking to improve ground efficiency and ball security. EDGE Lukas Van Ness is listed as questionable with a concussion; his presence is vital against a run-heavy Jets attack. EDGE Barryn Sorrell has been cleared from a foot issue, and is positioned for an expanded snap count on the edge. S Xavier McKinney anchors the secondary and communication against play-action and multi-tight end sets.
JETS PLAYER TO WATCH
QB Geno Smith managed a clean game in Week 1 (19-of-24, 215 yards, 0 turnovers) and brings a historical 4-0 record against Packers coordinator Jonathan Gannon. EDGE David Bailey — a rookie standout who recorded his first NFL sack and a team-high six pressures in the opener — to be tasked with collapsing the pocket on Jordan Love. RB Breece Hall secured his first 100-yard game of the season in Week 1 and serves as the anchor of the Jets' rushing attack. EDGE Will McDonald IV has been cleared to play despite an ankle issue; expected to combine with Bailey to pressure Green Bay's tackles. WR Garrett Wilson serves as Smith’s primary downfield target in the passing game.
KEY MATCHUP
The Jets ground game vs. Packers defense — New York RBs Breece Hall and Braelon Allen look to challenge Green Bay's front seven after a strong performance against the Tennessee Titans.

STATS AND STUFF:
— The game marks the home opener for the Jets, who are debuting new white helmets with their fifth current uniform combination and encouraging fans — who packed the stands in Tennessee — to wear white for a stadium-wide “White Out.” “We want to make this place a place where it’s hard to play,” Glenn said.
— The Packers last started 0-2 in 2006, their first season under coach Mike McCarthy.
— During their six straight losses, the Packers have been outscored 90-15 in the fourth quarter and overtime.
— Green Bay has lost five games, including the playoffs, in which it led by at least nine points in the second half since the start of the 2025 season.
— Packers WR Christian Watson had six catches for 147 yards and two touchdowns against Minnesota. Those marks either set or matched his second-highest career totals in all three categories.
— Love’s 387 yards passing against Minnesota was the second-highest total of his career. It also was the highest season-opening total for a Packers quarterback in franchise history.
— Love has thrown 24 touchdown passes in September games since 2023. No NFL quarterback has as many TD throws during the month of September in that stretch.
— Packers K Trey Smack’s 59-yard field goal against Minnesota was the longest in NFL history by a player making his debut, according to Elias Sports Bureau.
— The Jets are looking to start 2-0 for just the 12th time in franchise history and first since 2015.
— The game marks the first home start for Smith with the Jets since Oct. 23, 2016, his final start of his first stint with the team.
— The Jets opened the first and second halves last week with touchdown drives on their opening possession of each, the first time they’ve done that since Week 17 of the 2021 season against Tampa Bay.
— New York had a 19-play scoring drive that bridged the first and second quarters and lasted 11:48 — the team’s longest drive by time in any game since 1994, according to Stats Perform.
— RB Breece Hall has 3,500 yards rushing and needs 90 to pass Bill Mathis for ninth on the Jets’ career list.
WHAT’S NOT WORKING
Counting its 31-27 playoff loss at Chicago last season, Green Bay has dropped six straight games. The Packers hadn’t lost that many in a row since losing their final five games in 1990 and first two contests in 1991.
WHAT’S WORKING
Green Bay’s defense produced an adequate pass rush without Micah Parsons, who’ll miss at least the Packers’ first four games while recovering from a torn anterior cruciate ligament. The Packers sacked Carson Wentz three times. They totaled four sacks in the four games Parsons missed last year.
WHAT NEEDS HELP
The Packers committed 12 penalties… Green Bay scored a touchdown on just one of its four red-zone possessions and allowed Minnesota to reach the end zone on all four of its trips inside the 20… The Packers gained just 3.1 yards per carry.
STOCK UP
WR Christian Watson caught six passes for 147 yards and two touchdowns… WR Matthew Golden had six catches for 95 yards to set career highs in both categories… CB Bo Melton had a 59-yard kickoff return and downed a punt at the 4… CB Keisean Nixon had an interception and a half-sack.
STOCK DOWN
The entire starting line of Morgan, Jennings, Sean Rhyan, Monk and Bako-Bewele struggled… S Javon Bullard was penalized for unnecessary roughness on the hit that knocked Vikings quarterback Kyler Murray out of the game, then got flagged again for illegal contact to wipe out a third-down sack on Minnesota’s go-ahead touchdown drive.
KEY NUMBER
90-15 — The Packers have been outscored by that margin in the fourth quarter and overtime during this six-game skid that started last November. Over their last two games, they’ve been outscored 47-6 in the fourth quarter.
