2024 Week 1 — Packers at Eagles in Brazil

The 2024 Green Bay Packers season begins Friday night in Brazil, of all places. That’s the priority of the NFL these days — playing in countries where a scant fraction of people are actually interested in American football because of the possibility of making a few more dollars, or in this case, “reals.” In Brazil’s most populous city (11 million-plus), the stadium where the Packers will be facing the Eagles seats only 47,252, roughly half of Lambeau Field’s capacity.

Here is the Packers-Eagles “flip card” for the game, usually prepared by the home team for the media working the game (courtesy of the Philadelphia Eagles). The Packers used to post theirs, but I haven’t seen them the last couple of years.

The radio network is also available in three neighboring states, and via Packers.com.

Unfortunately for many, the game will only be broadcast on Peacock, NBC’s streaming service. That means unless you have a subscription, you won’t be seeing any of the game. Just so you know, the NFL will be doing this more and more in the coming years.

Ahhh, but if you live in either Green Bay or Milwaukee, the game will be broadcast on the local NBC affiliates (NBC 26 in Green Bay, and in Milwaukee on TMJ Channel 4). This is due to existing FCC/NFL rules.
