Let’s see a show of hands of those who predicted what happened last evening? Not many, right? The Green Bay Packers, backed up against the salary cap wall, and with the NFL’s top receiver wanting to get out of Green Bay, swung a deal with the Las Vegas Raiders to send unrestricted free agent WR Davante Adams west to Sin City. The Packers gained over $20 million in cap room, and the Raiders’ 2022 1st-round choice (No. 22) and 2nd-round choice (No. 53). Now Green Bay can sign a few of their own unrestricted free agents, perhaps sign other free agents, package draft picks to move up on Draft Day, or work more trades. The immediate effect of not having Adams on the field as QB Aaron Rodgers’ favorite target remains to be seen. It certainly was a late-evening bombshell, indeed.
