Some Friday Willie

We’ve taken a week off after the season and are back with a selection of Willie Wood photos. Mr. Wood played Safety for the Packers from 1960-71, coming to the team as an undrafted free agent from the University of Southern California. A Washington, D.C. native, Wood was an eight-time Pro Bowl selection, five-time Associated Press All-Pro selection, five-time NFL Champion, two-time Super Bowl Champion, a member of the NFL 1960’s All-Decade Team, a Packer Hall of Famer, and an NFL Hall of Famer. All of this was because he wrote to the team asking for a tryout when he was passed over in the draft. We think the Packers made out pretty good on that deal. Above, Wood in his fourth season — 1963.
