Profile of a Season — Part II

Our feature Profile of a Season continues with some of the photos from various weeks in the 1967 season which feature the Packers. Above, LB Ray Nitschke winds up on his head in Week 4 vs. the Lions at Detroit’s Tiger Stadium. Green Bay won, 27-17.

In this series of photos, Vikings K Fred Cox kicks the winning field goal with eight seconds left to break a 7-7 tie in Week 5 at Milwaukee’s County Stadium.

In Week 8, LB Lee Roy Caffey (#60) and S Willie Wood (#24) attempt to stop a Colts ballcarrier. Baltimore came out on top 13-10 in Memorial Stadium.

Facing the Cleveland Browns in Milwaukee in Week 9, rookie RB-KR Travis Williams (#23) ran back two kickoffs for touchdowns. Green Bay squeaked out a 55-7 victory.

Two legendary coaches — Vince Lombardi and George Halas — meet on the field after the Packers beat the Chicago Bears 17-13 in Wrigley Field in Week 11 to clinch the Central Division title.

The final two pages spotlight the Western Conference Playoff in Milwaukee on December 23, 1967, between the Packers and the Coastal Division champion Los Angeles Rams. The Packers won handily, 28-7, earning a spot in the NFL title game to be played on New Year’s Eve in Green Bay.
