An Extension — Packerville Note

The players’ union and the N.F.L. owners have given themselves an extra 24 hours to work things out, and we certainly hope they do. There is much to lose on both sides, with the ultimate losers being us, the fans. Gee, that almost never happens in sports. The Sports Illustrated cover above is from the strike-shortened 1982 season, and we hope next week’s cover isn’t a repeat.

The readers have spoken in our poll from last week, and we will not take the offseason “off” here at the Packerville, U.S.A. blog, but we’ll offer a compromise where we may not post something here every day, as we try to do during the season, but we’ll try every couple or every few days, so that if you check back a couple of times a week, there should be something new for you to read. Let’s be honest, for most people, when the weather turns warm again in spring, Packers football is not the first thing on their minds (well, it IS with us). So, that’s how we’ll move ahead here, and thanks for stopping by.
