Steelers Saturday

With the bad weather that was forecasted for game day morning, we made an executive decision to drive up to Green Bay on Saturday morning to get ahead of it. That involved an online search for an available hotel room and we are now staying just down the street from Lambeau Field. As you can see above, it was a cloudy, foggy drive, but thankfully with none of the ice we've had the last couple of days.

Our first glimpse of Lambeau as we came into town from the North to avoid all of the mall traffic on Oneida Street. This view is from the intersection of Ridge Road and Lombardi Avenue, looking South.

There were a lot of people at Lambeau today, and we had to park quite a distance from the Atrium.

Well, it’s not like you can just walk up and buy a ticket, though.

The Packers Pro Shop was bustling with shoppers on this Saturday before Christmas.

Two members of Mike Holmgren’s Super Bowl backfield were on hand signing autographs today. Former FB William Henderson and RB Dorsey Levens greeted fans in the Pro Shop.

There was a LONG line today, as there usually is when Packers Alumni make an appearance on home game weekends.

Lambeau Field tours are the hot item on the day before home games.

More Atrium visitors.

The Lambeau interior awaits the crowds tomorrow.

This week we learned that the Don Hutson Center, built in 1993, is likely to be replaced sooner rather than later because the new indoor practice facility (seen below) has been built to eventually be expanded to take its place. It’s no surprise that they want everything connected to Lambeau for convenience.

The players parking lot was emptying as we arrived.

In this photo, you can see how the new players’ facility (left) has been extended out from the existing structure of Lambeau Field.

Here’s a shot showing how the 50 yard line on the field extends through the Atrium as well.

For your Packers’ collectible needs, we recommend that you visit Card & Coin/Packer City Antiques not too far to the West from Lambeau Field. Or click on the “Titletown Nostalgia” banner on the right of the blog.

After dinner, we returned to take some photos of the stadium at night.

The stadium is ready to go for tomorrow’s Packers-Steelers game. We will be sharing photos from the game on Monday or Tuesday after we return home.
