Dick Deschaine Dies
Richard “Dick” Deschaine, 87, a punter for the Green Bay Packers from 1955-57, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 20, 2018. Deschaine had a four-year NFL career, three with the Packers and one with the Cleveland Browns. He punted 181 times for the Packers, averaging 42.6 yards. In his four years in the NFL, he finished second in the league twice and sixth twice, but during a time when NFL rosters were limited to 33 players, it was hard for teams to keep specialty players. Deschaine also was a receiver, but did not catch a pass in the NFL.
Gathering of family and friends will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Thursday, May 31, 2018 at St. Bernard Catholic Church 2040 Hillside Lane. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 3:00 P.M. with Rev. Mark VanderSteeg officiating, followed by a Life Celebration at his favorite supper club, Wally’s Spot. Complete Details will appear on Sunday, May 27, 2018.

Sideline Scene at City Stadium
Spotted on an auction site — with so many interesting things to see in the image: “1940s Curly Lambeau Green Bay Packers Vintage Photograph. Legendary coach Curly Lambeau is photographed here on the sidelines of Green Bay’s City Stadium seemingly disputing a call by one of the game’s referees while assistant coach, and Hall of Famer, Don Hutson calmly takes a drag from his cigarette to the left of the head man. Light wear shown throughout the 8"x10" image with moderate creasing in the left two corners. Reverse is blank.”

Jerry Kramer — Hall of Fame Media Guide
Looking ahead to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Induction weekend in August, we thought we’d share some of the historic organization’s 2018 Media Guide. This year, of course, is when Green Bay Packers’ legendary G Jerry Kramer finally gets to join his Lombardi Era teammates (and coach) into the hallowed institution. The ceremonies will be held August 2-5, 2018 in Canton, Ohio, home off the Hall of Fame. We attended Brett Favre’s induction weekend back in 2016, but will not be going this year.
Here is the biography and stats section on Jerry Kramer in the 2018 Hall of Fame Media Guide.
This section tells the history (above) and the future (following two pages) of the Pro Football Hall of Fame.
Finally, this is the section about the Hall of Fame selection process — explaining how the yearly inductees are chosen.

2018 Green Bay Packers Draft
We’re back from a self-imposed “vacation of isolation” from all news, social media, etc. to re-set the brain after a particularly stressful and trying year. Unfortunately, it coincided with the 2018 NFL Draft. This post is not news to anyone who wasn’t isolated last week, but serves as a quick reference to the new players chosen by the personnel staff at 1265 Lombardi Avenue in Green Bay, Wis.
