Clay is Covered
Arriving in the mailbox at the Packerville U.S.A. offices today was the annually-anticipated N.F.L. Preview issue of Sports Illustrated. And for those of us in the Midwest region of the United States, our very own Clay Matthews adorns the cover. Apparently, there are six “regional” covers, so those of you in other parts of the country will be out of luck. Inside the magazine, SI’s N.F.L. writer Peter King gives his prediction of how things will play out for Green Bay in the 2011 season. He has the Packers achieving an 11-5 record and winning the N.F.C. North Division crown, but says they will lose to the Atlanta Falcons in the N.F.C. Divisional round of the Playoffs. We’ll see, Mr. King... we’ll see.
Also in the issue, in the “Leading Off” front section, is a nod to the 1962 N.F.L. championship game, which would pit the Packers against the New York Giants in Yankee Stadium. Nice late-afternoon photo of QB Bart Starr under C Jim Ringo, huh?
