Bills at Packers

The goal is to get photos from the previous week’s game (in this case, the Bills vs. Packers game) up here on the original blog before the next game is played, and sometimes it’s hard to get that done. But, we’ve pulled it off again this week. Above, we never noticed before that this display is on the Lambeau Field Atrium information desk each week during the season.

Your Packerville, U.S.A. editor (left) with one of two fellows who dress up as Packers from the 20’s through the 40’s. This was on Saturday prior to the game.

Each visiting team has a truck from their home state that delivers their equipment, and we’ve always wondered why they don’t fly it on the plane when they travel. Perhaps it’s too much weight(?), but we’ve never researched this.

All of the Packers’ in-season practices are held in secrecy behind the green tarp that is put up when training camp ends (even though they don’t use this field during camp anymore).

Lambeau Field on a chilly fall Saturday afternoon in Green Bay.

Our first look inside the stadium after entering about an hour-and-a-half before the game on Sunday morning.

Special teams players are always out early. Here, Buffalo’s K Stephen Hauschka (#4) practices field goals with P Corey Bojorquez (#9) and LS Reid Ferguson (#69).

The team’s equipment department has their own “100 Seasons” logo variation.

Just a few examples of the extra equipment that is ready if needed on the Packers’ sideline.

QB Aaron Rodgers (#12) limbers up the arm and the knee.

QB Aaron Rodgers (#12) jokes with the game’s referee, Bill Vinovich (#52).

The Lambeau concourse is crowded as we head over to our section and grab a bratwurst on the way.

The University of Wisconsin Band was on hand this day, as they do once each season. They played the national anthem, at halftime, and during their “Fifth Quarter” after the game.

One of the two “guys with the giant flags” as the Packers’ offense is introduced to the stadium crowd. They alternate introducing the offense and defense at home games.

As QB Aaron Rodgers (#12) is introduced, the rest of the team runs with him to the bench area.

The Bills’ offense has the ball first, on the north end of the field.

Buffalo’s RB Chris Ivory (#33) attempts to punch through a hole that isn’t there.

They ended up having to punt after failing to get a first down.

Bills’ RB LeSean McCoy (#25) gets his turn against the Packers’ “D.”

RB Ty Montgomery (#88) gains some useful yards near mid-field.

Micah Hyde (#23) goes down with an injury early, ruining his return to Lambeau Field for the first time as a Buffalo Bill.

TE Jimmy Graham (#80) returns to the bench after a TD throw by Rodgers.

Bills’ RB Chris Ivory (#33)... still trying to find a hole.

Not sure if LB Antonio Morrison (#44) got called for a facemark penalty on this play, but he should’ve.

RB Aaron Jones (#33) providing that spark that the Packers need in the run game.

QB Aaron Rodgers (#12), after faking a hand off to RB Aaron Jones (#33), rolls out in the opposite direction.

An editorial: I know that at every game, there is a portion of the crowd who is perhaps at their first Packers game ever, but I’d like to point out that when the team is on offense, it is never O.K. to make excessive noise before the snap of the ball. They do not need your vocal support at that time. Our quarterback should never have to motion to the fans for “quiet” at the line of scrimmage. Thank you.

WR Geronimo Allison (#81) is tended to on the field for what turned out to be a concussion.

QB Josh Allen (#17) is sacked by LB Blake Martinez (#50)...

... and again by DL Kenny Clark (#97).

This is probably the most interesting quarterback position you’ll ever see on the field.

The Lambeau Field crowd enjoyed a mostly stress-free afternoon after the previous two home games (the thrilling come-from-behind victory over Chicago and the underwhelming tie with the Vikings).

Suite fans enjoy the new windows which open to let in the crowd noise and outdoor atmosphere — in between trips to the buffet for lobster and caviar.

QB Aaron Rodgers (#12) is brought down late in the game...

... but so is QB Josh Allen (again), this time by LB Oren Burks (#42) and LB Kyler Fackrell (#51). That was seven sacks on the day.

Game’s over.

The final score.

Some final stats on the scoreboard as the players leave the field.

As we mentioned earlier, the University of Wisconsin Marching Band performed their traditional “Fifth Quarter” for a good half-hour or more after the game.
