OTA Practice • May 31, 2018 — Part I

We attended the Green Bay Packers’ OTA (Organized Team Activities) practice on Thursday, and of course we have many photos to share. The practice was held at Ray Nitschke Field, where Training Camp is also held each summer.

We weren’t the only hearty fans who came out to watch football practice in May.

Ray Nitschke Field about a half hour before practice began. The weather changed back and forth from cloudy and cool to sunny and warm, as you’ll notice in the photos below.

The crowds for OTA practices are much smaller than for Training Camp, but it still was a good turnout. We saw some familiar faces that we’ll see again in July.

The video department personnel are seen preparing their filming rigs.

Assistant Equipment Manager Bryan Nehring oversees his squad of interns in setting up the practice fields for all the different stages of the workouts.

Various players are the first to arrive for practice and spend some time behind the Don Hutson Center.

The team gathers on the field for stretching and warm-ups.

DE Dean Lowry (#94) shares a laugh with a teammate.

Offensive players are in white; defensive players in green. This holds true for Training Camp as well.

New Packers DL Muhammad Wilkerson (#96) and LB Marcus Porter (#59) during stretching time.

QB Aaron Rodgers (#12) and QB Brett Hundley take the field for stretching.

T David Bakhtiari (#69) and QB Aaron Rodgers (#12) stretch and laugh together.

The lonely brigade — LS Zach Triner (#57), LS Bradley Hunter (#43), and new draftee P J.K. Scott (#6) work apart from the rest of the team.

The stretching time is fairly loose, with some players not exactly going at it wholeheartedly.

Stretching or the dry heaves? Hard to tell.

Skipping along on a pleasant summer day.

Time to get the helmets on and get to work.

Practicing for their game against an upcoming regular season opponent, the Rhode Island Red Balls — a new expansion team.

New TE Jimmy Graham (#80).

First-Round draft pick CB Jaire Alexander (#23).

Second-Round draft pick CB Josh Jackson (#37).

Recent pick-up TE Marcedes Lewis (#85).

The quarterbacks — QB Tim Boyle (#8), QB DeShone Kizer (#9), QB Aaron Rodgers (#12), and QB Brett Hundley (#7) — off in their own group.

Above and below, some special teams’ punting practice time.
