Fly, Adderley, Fly!

Here’s an interesting shot from the 1960s... Green Bay Packers’ CB Herb Adderley covering a Los Angeles Rams player — who has no face mask on his helmet! This looks to be one of those late-season games early in the decade where the Packers always finished their season on the west coast. But we cannot find a #29 on the early Sixties Rams' rosters. It’s not a preseason game, because the Packers did not play any exhibition matches with the Rams. Any thoughts, readers? [NOTE: A few readers peg the year at 1965 or '66]

The Ram's player is #25, Tommy McDonald.

Don Chandler #34 K, is on the sideline. It can only be 65,66, or 67.

I am gonna guess 1965 because Adderley used a left elbow pad that year that was worn/damaged late in the season (I would have replaced with new pad).

This would be the Packers - Rams game held on November 28, 1965 at the Coliseum in Los Angeles; the Pack fell to the Hilltoppers, 21-10. The facemask-less Ram is Tommy McDonald, who caught 5 passes for 64 yards in the contest.

Bit of trivia: Tommy McDonald is the last non-kicker to play without a facemask in the NFL.
