Real Men

We’ve been spending so much time on the seemingly never-ending labor war that we didn’t have time to concentrate on such important things as trying to figure out what year the photo above was taken. All we know is that this was back when real men played both ways, played injured, and made very little money (relative to today, at least). Union? Labor trouble? Not in those days.

NOTE: A Packerville reader sent us the original caption for this photo: “PACKERS WORK OUT FOR GAME WITH GIANTS (NEW YORK) — The Green Bay Packers work out at Bear Mountain Inn after their arrival in New York for the game with the New York Giants Sunday at the Polo Grounds. This will be their only intersectional game in New York this season (November 15, 1944).

The Inn is still functioning today, apparently recently restored.
