2010 Training Camp — Day 4 Morning

The early hardcore Packer fans, who have a certain spot they like to sit in, get to the Ray Nitschke Field before 7:00 a.m. for an 8:45 a.m. practice. Before long, this area features a line of fans waiting to get in.

Today’s morning practice consisted of players in “shells,” or jerseys, shorts, and helmets (no pads).

QB Aaron Rodgers (#12) participates in the warm-up exercises.

Today was a short practice, but one of the features was a drill where the balls were soaked in water...

... and then all ball-handlers (RBs, FBs, TEs, and WRs) ran a gauntlet to see if the wet ball could be stripped.

Some scrimmage action was run, but the players met most of the time in offensive or defensive groups at each end of the field.

RB Ryan Grant (with ball) gets off a run.

Grant breaks free for a long gain, especially since no one was tackling today.

RB Quinn Porter (#40) threads his way through a crowd for a gain.

The practice ended not long after one hour, which may have had something to do with the 90-degree heat, and the fact that there was another practice this evening.

A look at the Ray Nitschke Field that we haven’t shared yet.

Fans linger along the fence that is the North end of the field.

Fans gather at the gate where the players leave the field to head back to their locker room at Lambeau Field.

One of the best stories in all of sports is the tradition of kids letting players ride their bikes to and from the practice field. Here and below, kids wait for their player to come out.

LB Clay Matthews rides away from the field.

Heading back to Lambeau Field (in the distance).

A young local girl has an experience that she’ll fondly look back on years from now.

2010 first-round draft pick Bryan Bulaga shares a laugh along the way. Below, more lucky kids.

We had to take this shot of the Lambeau Field security vehicle with the green and gold emergency lights on top.

That brings us to the end of our 2010 Packers Training Camp experience. As always, it was a wonderful time. We’ll be back in town on August 14th for the first preseason game against the Cleveland Browns. We hope you’ve enjoyed this feature, especially if you’ve never been able to make the journey.
